Reiki - Natural Healing
The word Reiki comes from the Japanese words Rei and Ki. Rei is interpreted as meaning the Higher Intelligence that guides us and is always there for us when we need it. Ki is the soul energy found in all living things. When our soul energy is high we feel confident and strong and able to cope with anything, when it is low we feel weak both in spirit and on a physical plane. This soul energy comes to us from the very air we breath, the food we eat, from energising sleep and our surroundings.
So Reiki can be defined as a spiritual healing energy guided by the Higher Intelligence. This healing energy flows through the practitioner and is channelled to wherever it is needed in the client. This creates the right healing conditions necessary for each individual, whether physical or spiritual. Reiki healing cannot be guided by the mind so the experience or ability of the practitioner does not limit the healing. Thus Reiki always has a healing effect so cannot be misused.
Ki is the source of our mental and physical health and flows through and around us energising our physical bodies as it flows through them. As a result our physical health will be effected if the flow of Ki is disrupted. Therefore, any disruption in the flow of Ki is the principal cause of illness.
Ki responds to our thoughts and feelings and will flow either strongly or in a weakened state depending on whether our thoughts are positive or negative. Negative thoughts and feelings will restrict the smooth flow of Ki. Orthodox medicine now acknowledges that the mind plays an important part in creating illness – going so far as to state that as much as 98% of illness could be caused by the mind either directly or indirectly.
We now know that the mind exists not only in our brains. It is part of our whole body. The mind extends to our every organ and tissue and runs through our nervous system. It extends beyond the body into the area we know as the aura which can extend beyond our body by as much as 2 or 3 feet. It is easy to see from this how closely our mind and body are linked. Therefore, our negative thoughts invade not only our brain but our entire body and spread out in our auras. In any area where negative thoughts collect Ki becomes restricted. The function of any physical organ or tissue in these areas also becomes restricted and illness results if the negative thoughts and feelings are not eliminated quickly. However, negative thoughts and feelings fixed in our unconscious present a biggest problem as we are often not aware of them and changing or eliminating them presents a challenging problem.
Reiki therapy is guided by the Higher Intelligence, it flows through the practitioner and goes exactly where it needs to for the greatest benefit. It knows how to respond to restrictions in the flow of Ki. It is able to eliminate any thoughts or feelings which are inhibiting Ki because it works directly in the unconscious parts of the mind and body. Reiki healing flows through sick or unhealthy areas, breaks them up and clears negativity allowing a normal healthy flow of Ki to resume. As a result unhealthy physical organs and tissues become flooded with nourishing Ki and begin to function in a balanced healthy way replacing illness with health.
Reiki is becoming more and more popular as a non-invasive, completely benign healing technique. We continue to explore alternative methods of healing, and the benefits of Reiki therapy will play an important role as an accepted and valued healing practice.
